A New Year. A New You. Weight Loss…PART 1
Once every 365 days (sometimes 366) people the world over ring in the New Year. This is a magical time for many people. The start of a fresh new year symbolizes the end of the old and the chance for clean starts and fresh beginnings. To capitalize on the spirit of change, in the days and sometimes weeks leading up to the celebrations, whether on paper or just in their head, people jot down a whole list of resolutions. And, at the very top of many of those lists is weight loss.
If you are anything like me, you start with candy at Halloween and carry right on through the holidays with big meals and too much of just about everything. It isn’t until I see the year drawing to a close that I start planning to be good. This is a frustrating cycle. I don’t like spending the first few months of every New Year fighting to reclaim the body I had the spring and summer before, but I have to do it. If I don’t, the 15 or more holiday pounds will pile up every year and eventually I will be right back where I was (so many years ago)…close to 250 pounds and depressed.
I decided to look into new alternatives this year and I found one that peaked my interest. The Hypnosis Network offers a program called Enjoying Weight Loss ($119). Now at first, I was like, yeah right. Then, I remembered my dad listening to hypnosis tapes in the early 80’s. He wanted to quit smoking and they worked. Hypnosis worked then, and I am sure in these 25+ years the therapy has improved, so I was determined to give it a go.
I have chosen to offer my feedback in two parts because I am only halfway through the program. I am reporting now instead of waiting because weight loss is a top resolution…and there is no time better than the New Year to get it going.
This 4 CD set is really quite remarkable. It utilizes hypnosis and the power of suggestion to encourage you to adopt healthy eating habits and stick to an exercise routine. The person behind the program is the recognized industry expert Dr. Roberta Temes. She is both an educator and editor in the Medical Hypnosis field. Her technique has been used to help thousands of people lose weight and keep it off.
Here’s what I found. After my first day, I lost a taste for soda. On a daily basis, I would drink 3 or more (sometimes up to 10) diet sodas a day. I immediately switched over to water (and it wasn’t a conscious choice, I just wanted it). Not only did it taste refreshing and give me the hydration I needed, it kept me satisfied between meals. I am a soda drinker and a snacker. But, I have had neither the urges nor the cravings for either since starting the program.
I credit Richard Simmons (I loved those Sweatin’ Videos) and Weight Watchers with the biggest part of my weight loss but, time and time again, after I achieve my goals I let both slip away. Well, day two on the program, I was right back on weight watchers and ‘Sweatin’ the pounds off with Richard. I listen twice a day for less than 20 minutes and I am already 8 pounds down (and it really has been easy).
I hate dieting and exercise. My whole life has been a battle to stay slim. However this hypnosis works, it makes everything easy and fun. This is the first time in my life weight loss had been simple.
I will follow up on the second part of the program in several weeks. I encourage those of you who resolved to lose weight this year to try this program. Open your mind…it will work.
